Probe
Probe
Precisely Remove + Refine
Probe Treatment, also known as electrocautery, is a targeted procedure that uses a fine-tipped probe to deliver controlled heat via electrical current to safely treat and remove minor skin irregularities. It is a fast, precise solution for eliminating unwanted skin lesions.
Electrocautery offers a simple, efficient, and effective method for removing small skin imperfections. The procedure is highly controlled, making it a preferred choice for delicate facial areas or precise lesion targeting. During the treatment there is little discomfort, however this varies from patient to patient and depending on individual pain thresholds, the area being treated, and the size/type of the irregularity.
What It Does:
Removes Unwanted Lesions with Precision: Targets and treats skin tags, sebaceous hyperplasia, cherry angiomas, milia, keratoses, and other benign irregularities
Minimizes Discomfort & Downtime: Delivers heat with accuracy, minimizing damage to surrounding tissue
Improves Skin Clarity & Texture: Can leave the skin smoother and more even once healed
Safe & Effective for Small Areas: Can provide immediate cosmetic improvement with minimal risk or scarring
Ideal For:
clogged oil glands (sebaceous hyperplasia)
skin tags (fibromas)
dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN)
seborrheic keratosis (KS)
certain vascular formations
Before Your Treatment
✔ Avoid Irritation:
Discontinue retinol, acids, and exfoliating products in the treatment area for 3–5 days prior.
Do not wax, shave, or undergo laser treatments in the area being treated within the same timeframe.
✔ No Tanning or Active Sunburn:
Ensure your skin is not sunburned or recently tanned, as this can increase sensitivity and the risk of pigmentation.
✔ Clean Skin Only:
Arrive with clean, product-free skin—no makeup, lotions, or oils on the treatment area.
✔ Share Medical History:
Inform your provider if you are pregnant, taking blood thinners, or have a history of keloid scarring, diabetes, or poor wound healing.
During Your Treatment
✔ What to Expect:
The provider will use a fine probe to apply a controlled electric current to the targeted area.
You may feel a mild stinging or heat sensation, similar to a pinprick—most clients find it very tolerable.
Treatment time is typically short (pending on the amount/size of lession) and highly precise, focusing only on the specific lesion or area.
✔ No Bleeding or Cutting:
Electrocautery is non-invasive and doesn’t break the skin in a traditional sense, so there is minimal trauma and little to no bleeding.
Aftercare and Recovery
✔ What to Expect Post-Treatment:
The treated area may appear darker, crusted, or slightly red. This is normal and will naturally flake off within 7–14 days.
Do not pick or scratch the area as it heals—this can lead to scarring or pigmentation changes.
✔ Keep It Clean and Protected:
Clean the area gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water.
Apply a healing ointment if recommended
Avoid sun exposure on the treated area and use broad-spectrum SPF daily.
✔ Avoid for 48 Hours:
Makeup, active skincare products, swimming, saunas, or excessive sweating in the treated area.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Many minor skin irregularities (such as skin tags, cherry angiomas, or sebaceous hyperplasia) can often be successfully treated in just one session. However, depending on the size, depth, and number of lesions, some clients may require a follow-up treatment 3–6 weeks later once the area has fully healed. In some cases, 2–3 treatments may be needed for complete resolution or refinement.
Your provider will assess your skin during your consultation and recommend the best treatment plan based on your individual needs.
