Getting the most out of your facial goes beyond your time in the treatment room. From pre-appointment skin prep + active ingredient pauses to in-treatment customization + essential post-care recovery, every step is designed to protect your skin barrier, elevate your results + ensure a seamless, deeply restorative experience from start to finish.
Schedule Smart
Plan Ahead: Aim to book your facial at least 3 to 5 days before any major event (weddings, photoshoots, or parties) to allow your skin time to settle into its fresh, luminous glow.
Injectable Buffer: If you receive Botox or dermal fillers, please ensure your appointment is scheduled at least 2 weeks after your injections.
Start with a Consultation: If this is your first visit to Ici Paris Skin Clinic, our specialists will perform a comprehensive skin analysis to tailor the treatment precisely to your skin’s needs.
Pause Certain Products + Activities Beforehand
Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, threading, shaving, or chemical depilatories on the face for 24 to 48 hours prior.
Active Ingredients: Stop using retinoids (Retin-A, retinol), AHA/BHA exfoliants, and strong acne treatments for 3 to 5 days before your treatment.
Sun Exposure: Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or sunburns prior to your appointment to prevent sensitivity and irritation.
Come Fresh-Faced (If You Can)
Arriving without heavy makeup saves valuable treatment time and allows your aesthetician to evaluate your skin’s natural state right away. (If you’re coming straight from work, don’t worry—we always start with an initial cleanse!)
Share Your Skin Story
Be open with your aesthetician and consultant about your main skin concerns, allergies, current daily routine, medications (like Accutane or topical antibiotics), and any recent cosmetic procedures.
Makeup + Treatment Time
If you arrive wearing heavy or full-coverage makeup, please note that your aesthetician will need to spend extra time performing a thorough double cleanse, which can reduce the time spent on other relaxing or active portions of your facial.
Embracing "Facial Hair" (Post-Treatment Style)
We use soft headbands and wraps to keep your hair completely clear of creams, masks and oils, which means your hair may get a bit tousled or fluffed up during the service. Feel free to bring a clip or hat for after your session!
Normal Sensations vs. Discomfort
Active ingredients, enzyme exfoliants, or mild peels may cause a light tingling, bubbling, or warming sensation, this is just a sign that the formula is working! However, if anything ever feels sharp, burning or uncomfortable, let your aesthetician know right away.
Relax + Communicate
This is your time to unwind and recharge across our relaxing clinic space. If the steam, extractions, or massage pressure ever feel uncomfortable, please let your aesthetician know. Every detail can be adjusted for your comfort.
Expect a Healthy Flush + Mild Flaking
Flush: Mild pinkness or sensitivity is completely normal for a few hours following your facial.
Flaking: Light shedding or mild flaking can occasionally occur after your appointment, especially if your treatment included deep extractions, a resurfacing peel or microdermabrasion. This is simply your skin shedding old, dead cells to reveal a fresh, radiant layer underneath! Keep skin thoroughly hydrated and resist the urge to pick or manually exfoliate any flakes.
Blotchiness: Temporary, patchy redness or uneven skin tone can occur immediately after your treatment, especially if your facial included extractions, deep massage, or active peels. This is simply a sign of increased circulation and temporary inflammation. It typically calms down as your skin barrier settles.
Purging: It is completely normal to notice whiteheads or breakouts after a facial. Deep-pore cleansing and active exfoliants accelerate your skin’s natural cellular turnover, bringing underlying debris and clogged pores to the surface faster. Resist the urge to pop them; they typically clear up on their own.
Essential Aftercare Tips
Give Skin a Break: Avoid wearing heavy makeup, intense workouts, saunas, steam rooms + direct sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours.
Hands Off: Avoid touching, picking or squeezing your face after your treatment.
Protect + Hydrate: Apply a broad-spectrum SPF daily to protect your fresh skin and drink plenty of water to support your skin’s barrier.
Follow Your Custom Plan: Your aesthetician will provide tailored product recommendations to maintain and prolong your glowing results at home.
